Tangney Opticians provide Eye Tests in Kerry while keeping you the customer the main focus of our practise. Our eye test examinations are carried out by a fully qualified optometrists/optician.
They are registered with the Opticians Board here in Ireland, the Association of Optometrists Ireland.
The eye exam generally takes 20 to 30 minutes and consideration is always given to the patient’s overall health, family history and any present difficulties.
We use the latest technology available to optometrist will establish the power and health of your eyes. Glasses or contact lenses will be recommended if a visual correction is needed. Further tests will be carried out if any abnormalities are found and a referral to the GP or an eye specialist will be arranged if necessary.
The optometrist will then check your vision and health of the eye using a series of charts and instruments. Various specific conditions are screened for, Glaucoma, Diabetic Screening, Macular Degeneration to name but a few. It may also be possible during the eye test to detect many health issues such as elevated blood pressure, central nervous system abnormalities and more. After the examination the optician will discuss the results and refer you to the dispensing optician should glasses be required. Opticians and Eye Test.
Opticians are technicians trained to design, verify and fit eyeglass lenses and frames, contact lenses, and other devices to correct eyesight. They use prescriptions supplied by ophthalmologists or optometrists, but do not test vision or write prescriptions for visual correction. Opticians are not permitted to diagnose or treat eye diseases.
